Frequently Asked Questions
Here they are... the answers to the questions we get asked the most! You can also read our interview - In Conversation - with the creative team behind the Ker-Ching! production. Click on the link shown to view the page containing this interview.
How did you get your cast?
This time round, we auditioned 40 actors at The Unicorn Children's Theatre in London for 3 of the roles (we knew one of the actors was coming back to work with us again, but the other three had other acting commitments). They were asked to prepare a 3 minute comedy sketch and participate in a physical theatre/movement workshop. How many characters does each actor play?
Dominic plays just one character; the leading character, Sean. Naomi, Hector and Dan play up to 9 characters each. There are some very fast costume changes taking place back stage!Where did you get the costumes from?
The costumes were sourced and made by the designer, Laura McEwen, who spent lots of time in charity shops and on sewing machines! We also borrow some things from Nottingham Playhouse. Thank you NP!How many weeks rehearsal did you have?
Just 2 weeks! How did the actors prepare for rehearsals?
They were given their scripts in advance, and had to undergo fitness training to get them in shape for the rehearsal period (which was physically demanding!).I want to read the script. Can I have a copy?
Here's the link to the script! Enjoy! How did you decide upon the musical score?
The director chose contemporary, energetic and exhilarating music to reflect the performance piece. The music is a really important part of the show. What does the sofa represent in the production?
The sofa belongs to Sean. It is shabby and old. When Sean fantasies about his dream apartment, we imagine the bedsit and sofa to be flashy and modern, but the fantasy fades and we are back in the bedsit. So the sofa seems to represent materialism, or material success, but also relationships and emotions.
