Past Productions

Each year we tour professional productions to schools and small - medium scale arts venues. The productions are aimed at secondary schools, primary schools or a family audience and the company is on the road for 15 - 20 weeks of the year.  Here are examples of our most recent work

ROMEO & JULIET

For secondary school audiences

An imaginative and sensitive reinterpretation of Shakespeare's famous tragedy- the ultimate teenage love story in co-production with Box Clever Theatre Company.  Our first first Shakespeare tour in over 10 years!

A FAMILY COOK BOOK

For primary school audiences

This was as a funny, contemporary look at modern families and how unique they can be in their make-up. It explored the relationship between two children thrown together through a second marriage situation and how they journeyed from loathing each other at first sight through to friends and supportive peers.  The play was delivered through a concept of a mixed up recipe book and a fairy story book which led to hysterical ingredients lists for different families.

THE GIVING TREE

For first time theatre goers

This play was about the meaning of Giving; to say hello, goodbye, sorry, thank you explored through creative puppetry, object manipulation and live music.

BOB THE MAN ON THE MOON

For first time theatre goers

'Bob' was our first national tour co-produced with Travelling Light Theatre Company.  The production was based on the hugely popular, award winning book 'Man on the Moon' by Simon Bartram and was performed in theatres including the egg, Polka, Warwick Arts Centre, artsdepot, Salisbury Playhouse and the Tobacco Factory.  It also went into Swindon Infant & Primary Schools.  See Current Production page for re-tour info.

KER-CHING!

For secondaryschool audiences

19 year old Sean meets the girl of his dreams but has he got the money to keep her keen? Lara; the lover, the looker, the liar?
Sean’s appetite for the perfect life, his dreams and desires lead him to come face to face with the obstacles and hoops he has to jump through to get there- in human form! Bank managers, fake charity workers, skinflints, dodgy market sellers, a street- talking cash machine that tells it like it is!  This physical theatre piece directed by Scott Graham from Frantic Assembly explored the power of money - where does it come from, why do we need it, how does it affect us...

FIRST THE WORST, SECOND THE BEST

For primary school audiences

This play used mask, live music and physical theatre to explore the emotional impact that sport has on the individual and the significant role it plays in personal development.

SK8 ANGEL

For secondary school audiences

This was a co-production with Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre about coping with bereavement through self-expression, in this case, through the art of skate boarding.

THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER

For primary school audiences

Based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's classic poem, our play drew on the plot and themes of the narrative in which the old sailor tells the tale of his happenings aboard his ship after he kills an albatross.  This chilling tale provided perfect material for children's theatre, meeting ghosts and monster and sailing through storms, lands of ice and blistering heat.

Rannel: Flhip Flhop

Over the years we have dedicated our time and resources to Swindon boy/veteran in UK hip hop dance, Banxy, to help him develop his solo piece Ikky Wakk, and Rannel Theatre Company (pictured left) with their award winning show FHlip FHlop, which was directed by our Artistic Director.
